Containerized Mining Wastewater

Installation and commissioning of a containerized wastewater system for a mining operation that needed rapid capacity for an expanded workforce.

Containerized wastewater treatment system for a remote mining operation

CSCA mandate

Install and commission a wastewater system that would enable a mining operation to increase its manpower by 200 individuals. The project was completed within a one-week timeline, eliminating the need to shut down operations.

The challenge

The mining operation's demolition phase required immediate wastewater capacity for additional personnel while maintaining ongoing mine operations. The project needed a practical, weather-ready system that could be installed and commissioned quickly, with zero tolerance for shutdowns.

Canadian Shield solution

Canadian Shield provided a rapid containerized wastewater treatment approach, including site assessment, delivery coordination, installation, commissioning, testing, and operator training. The system used a modular containerized treatment plant with advanced treatment and disinfection, a zero-discharge design, and power tied into the mine grid with backup generators.

Execution timeline

The work was completed within one week: site assessment and crane delivery, foundation and piping, commissioning and testing, operator training, and full handover — enabling the mine to expand its workforce without any operational shutdown.
